BOY DISCOVERS BODIES OF MOTHER, BOYFRIEND

A woman and her boyfriend were shot to death in their home early Tuesday, while five children slept nearby, police said.

Portsmouth police said they have no motive or suspects in the slayings.

Lisa Cost had been shot once in the head and was lying in her bed, according to authorities. Larry A. Fields, 33, was shot once in the neck and was found lying on the floor.

Cost's 10-year-old son, the oldest of the five children, told authorities he thought he had heard a gunshot sometime between 3 and 4 a.m., but that he went back to sleep until a baby crying in his mother's bedroom woke him several hours later. - Associated Press
