ONE PRAYER CAN'T BE ACCEPTABLE TO ALL

THE JAN. 25 letter by Earl Bowyer should put to rest all discussion regarding prayer in public schools. He clearly points out that public schools house students of differing religions; therefore, it would be impossible to have a blanket prayer acceptable to all.

I have spent many hours reading about world religions. I know something of the religion and lifestyle of the Muslims in Morocco. I know an exchange student who is Buddhist. I have a son-in-law who is Jewish.

I truly respect each of these people for being true to his own faith, and I appreciate what they have taught me. But since I am Christian, I would object to my children being taught prayers of another faith in public schools. I would also object to students of other religions being taught Christian prayers.

Three cheers for Earl Bowyer. I agree that we must maintain a separation of church and state. RALPH V. NECESSARY NEW CASTLE
