LIONS POSTHUMOUSLY HONOR EDWIN CHRISMAN
Lion Edwin C. Chrisman of Christiansburg was designated Tuesday as a Melvin Jones Fellow by the Lions Club International Foundation in recognition of his commitment to serving the world community.
Chrisman died in August 1991 at 79. The award was presented to his wife, Gay, at the Christiansburg Lions Club's 51st Annual Charter Night Banquet, held at Stone's Cafeteria.
Chrisman, a Christiansburg native, was a retired Radford Arsenal employee and was secretary of the Lions Club, of which he was a member for 49 years. He was active in St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Named for the founder of Lions Club International, Melvin Jones, the fellowship is the foundation's highest honor. The foundation is the charitable arm of the association and acts as steward of the financial resources that are disbursed for humanitarian causes.
Lions Club International is the world's largest service club organization with nearly 40,000 clubs in 164 countries and geographic locations.
