POLICE PROBE DEATH OF INFANT ON CAMPUS
State and local police are investigating the death of a full-term baby boy discovered Tuesday on the campus of Clinch Valley College, Wise County Commonwealth's Attorney Tim McAfee said.McAfee said the investigation began after a doctor found evidence that a woman who checked into Wise Appalachian Regional Hospital on Monday night complaining of abdominal pain and bleeding may have delivered a baby hours earlier.
A search Tuesday of a garbage bin adjacent to the woman's apartment in the Honors House revealed body tissue and assorted medical and surgical instruments, an affidavit filed in court said.
The body of a baby boy wrapped in blood-stained towels was found under a bed, the affidavit said.
