CONCERT-GOER HURT WHEN PANEL FALLS
Talk about bringing down the house.A woman was injured at Van Halen's concert Wednesday night at the Roanoke Civic Center when a panel vibrated loose from the scoreboard above the crowd, fell and struck her in the head.
The lightweight 2-feet-by-5-feet metal panel on the scoreboard apparently came loose from its screws while Baby Animals, the show's opening act, played, said Civic Center Assistant Manager Mark Collins.
"With the volume level, it apparently vibrated loose," Collins said. He said Civic Center officials were investigating how the accident occured.
The woman, whose name Collins declined to release, was treated for a minor laceration at the building's first aid room. She later was treated for the injury at Community Hospital and released, a hospital spokesman said.
