CHURCH CHANGES ITS NAME TO BETTER REFLECT ITS BELIEFS
The former Church of the Living Way at 1857 Grandin Road S.W. has changed its name to more accurately reflect its theology, its pastor, the Rev. John Ault, said.Renamed Grace Covenant Church several weeks ago, the congregation sees the new name as more accurately reflecting the belief that God has given them a gift obtainable through faith.
"The former name, from Hebrews 10, was chosen to express the truth that through Jesus we may enter into a deep and personal relationship with God," Ault said. "Even though it was a scripturally sound name, few people recognized the basis for the name and its statement without some explanation."
The church was established as an independent charismatic congregation about 12 years ago.
Ault said the church will continue its prayer and praise services at 10 a.m., its study groups in homes and its emphasis on ministry to the whole family. It is a member of an association of similar churches called Grace Presbytery.
An open house is scheduled March 8 from noon to 3 p.m.
