COOPER RANKS NO. 8 AMONG CHALLENGERS

The United States Boxing Association official ratings for February rank Bert Cooper of Salem, Va., eighth in the line of challengers for heavyweight champion Tim Witherspoon's title.

Ranked No. 1 is former world champion Mike Tyson, who recently was convicted of raping a woman in Indianapolis and is awaiting sentencing. Second is 42-year-old George Foreman, followed by Riddick Bowe, Ray Mercer, Michael Moorer, Carl Williams, Tony Tucker, Cooper, Oliver McCall and Bruce Seldon.
