SUPERVISORS GIVE $10,000 TOWARD PARK IN FLOYD
The Floyd County supervisors voted Tuesday night to help cover cost overruns during the development of the county park.Supervisors approved a one-time $10,000 donation to the Floyd/Floyd County Recreation Authority, which built the park.
The measure passed 3-2 with Edsel Duncan and Chairman Howard Dickerson dissenting.
The decision came after a spirted 20-minute debate.
The Recreation Authority budgeted $161,950 to develop the park. But a seam of rock was found on the property and had to be blasted, increasing the cost to approximately $275,000.
