Circus timeThe 121st edition of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus comes to the Roanoke Civic Center from April 8-12.
Featured acts include the Heilongjiang Acrobatic Troupe from the People's Republic of China; European clown David Larible and his sister Vivien, who performs acrobatics while balanced on her head; Marco and Philip Peters from The Netherlands with their whirling Wheel of Death; Dessi Kehaiova, the "Guinness Book of World Records" holder for spinning 88 hoops around her body; and The Flying Vargas from Mexico, a trapeze act.

Artemis XV exhibition
The Artemis XV art exhibition arrives at Roanoke College on Sunday after originating at Longwood College.
It features the work of 27 Virginia artists, the majority of them from the western part of the state. They were selected by Marilyn Zeitlin, executive director of the Washington Project for the Arts.
The show will be in the Smoyer Gallery of Olin Hall through April 3. A reception, open to the public at no charge, will take place Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
Artemis is a Roanoke-based journal of literature and the arts. Its 1992 edition, Artemis XV, will be published about May 1 and will include reproductions of a number of the works in the art exhibit.
Showtimers open house
The newly renovated Showtimers studio theater will be available for inspection at public open houses on March 8, 15 and 22.
The yearlong project substantially increased seating capacity and nearly doubled stage and backstage space.
The open houses, complete with refreshments and tours, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. each Sunday.
The theater is at 2067 McVitty Road S.W.
