CURBING GAMES WITH THE LOTTERY
AFTER THE stink about the Australian $7.2 million link in the $27 million Lotto jackpot, Virginia is up in arms. Something should be done to curb this underhanded way to get rich. My idea:Anytime the Lotto jackpot gets to, say, $5 million, it will be cut in half, making two $2.5 million drawings. This way there would be two millionaires if their numbers are drawn.
If no winners, then the jackpot grows until it reaches $5 million, and if there are no winners, these $5 million jackpots would be also cut in half, making four more drawings.
I know that along the line there would be winners, but think how many there could be. I know all Virginians would love this idea, and if it were put into effect, there would be two great improvements:
No more Australian or any other groups slapping down millions of dollars to become rich.
I am sure there would be an influx of betting and more monies into Virginia's treasury. RUSSELL W. JOHNSON VINTON
