Oliver died Sunday at the Holy Family Residence, where she had lived the past two years. She was in good health until five years ago when a circulatory problem led to the amputation of her legs, said her daughter, Elizabeth Miles.
She was born Aug. 17, 1880, in West Gilbride, Scotland, and became the first telephone operator in Glasgow, according to newspaper clippings. She moved to Scranton in 1910 and worked for many years as a dressmaker.
