Mrs. Mae Jones Smith of Roanoke died Tuesday, March 3, 1992, in a Salem hospital. She was the widow of William H. Smith, a member of Order of Eastern Star, Birmingham, Al. and a member of Virginia Heights Baptist Church. She was a member and Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, Washington, D. C. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria S. and Walter R. Lindquist, Roanoke, Va.; granddaughter and husband, Debbie L. and Kevin Wilson, Stevensville, Md.; grandson and wife, Bill and Ann Lindquist of Wilmington, Del.; great-granddaughter, Kara Ann Lindquist; great-grandson, Benjamin Wilson; a sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Henry Chappell, St. Louis, Mo.; brother and sister-in-law, P. H. and Chris Poore, Oxon Hill, Md.; one niece and husband, Julia and Richard Hilgenberg, Huntington, Md.; three nephews, Wayne Chappell, Baltimore, Md.; Jerry Chappell, St. Louis, Mo.; and Tom Poore of Oxon Hill, Md. Funeral services will be from the Brown Funeral Home Chapel, 1300 Fourth Street, Bessemer, Ala., 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 1992, with burial in Valhalla Cemetery, Bessemer, Ala. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 554, Roanoke, Va. 24003-554. Arrangements by Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
