CARROLL COUNTY ELIMINATED 65-39

Virginia High put an emphatic end to Carroll County's basketball season, routing the visiting Cavaliers 65-39 in the semifinals of the Group AA Region IV boys' tournament Thursday.

The Bearcats (20-4) used a stifling full-court press to advance to Saturday's region championship game at Virginia High against Blacksburg, a 61-54 winner over Richlands in Thursday night's other semifinal game.

Robbie Howard led Virginia High, from the Highlands District, with 21 points, Adrian Sensabaugh had 12 and Chris Mathews added 10.

Kris Richardson with 12 points was the leading scorer for Carroll County, a New River District team that finished 15-10. \
