RICHMOND'S BLAIR CAA PLAYER OF YEAR

Richmond's Curtis Blair, a senior guard from Roanoke, was selected the Colonial Athletic Association's college basketball player of the year Saturday by league coaches and the media.

Blair led the Spiders in scoring and was second in the conference at 20.5 points per game. He scored in double figures in every game this season except one, with high games of 35 points against Georgia Tech and 32 against Old Dominion.

He has 1,576 points in his career, which puts him sixth on the school's all-time scoring list.

James Madison's Lefty Driesell was picked coach of the year and freshman Kent Culuko was chosen rookie of the year. Culuko led CAA freshmen with 13.7 points per game and led the league with 72 3-pointers, a James Madison record.

Driesell, whose team lost nine players last year, finished the regular season with a 19-9 record after starting 4-5.
