EX-RICHMOND MAN ACCUSED OF BIGAMY

Authorities say a former Richmond man arrested in Minnesota left behind a trail of jilted wives in Virginia and at least three other states.

Jerry Wayne Montgomery, 36, was arrested in Minnesota Friday after he was identified by a viewer of the syndicated television program, "Sally Jessy Raphael Show."

Montgomery was being held without bond Saturday in Hennepin County Jail in Minneapolis.

He has been charged with a variety of offenses - including bigamy, grand larceny and forgery - in Richmond and Henrico County in Virginia and in Texas, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Missouri.

He was arrested at a auto repair shop in Minnetonka, Minn., where he worked as a mechanic, police said.

"I'm very thrilled," said Montgomery's Richmond wife, whom he married less than three weeks after they were introduced at a church-sponsored dinner for singles. "I'm going to try to get the marriage annulled immediately."

The woman, who asked that her name not be published, learned of Montgomery's other wives after they appeared on the television show last November. - Associated Press
