FELDMAN WINS TECH'S 1ST CAA WRESTLING TITLE

Virginia Tech's Josh Feldman gained the school's first Colonial Athletic Association individual wrestling title when he won the heavyweight division Saturday at American University.

This is the first CAA wrestling championship meet.

Feldman, a redshirt sophomore, decisioned Chris Maynor of team champion George Mason 5-3 in the final. Maynor had defeated Feldman 1-0 in overtime at the Virginia State Championships.

Feldman (27-3-1) gets into the NCAA Tournament on March 19-21 in Oklahoma City.

The Hokies' Bill Aschenbach (118 pounds) and Matt Mogel (190 pounds) lost in championship matches.

George Mason's 82.5-point total beat Old Dominion (70.25) in the team standings. Liberty was third at 67.25 and Virginia Tech fourth at 43.5. James Madison, William and Mary and American rounded out the field. - Staff report
