Mr. Garfield Otey, age 79, of Raleigh Ave., Vinton, passed away Saturday, March 7, 1992. He was predeceased by his wife, Louise Daisy Otey; and two sons, Herman R. Lucky, Kenneth C. Otey. He retired from United Mine Workers after 37 years of service. He was a faithful and dedicated member of the First Baptist Church, Vinton. Survivors include two sons, Garfield Morris Otey, Crowley, Louisiana; James D. Otey, Roanoke; four daughters, Doris J. Board, Frances E. Johnson, Charlene L. Cooper, Carolyn Y. Mitchell, all of Roanoke; sons-in-law, James E. Board, Sterling Johnson, Sr., Randle Mitchell, all of Roanoke; daughters-in-law, Carolyn Otey, Roanoke; Janice Otey, Crowley, Louisiana; grandchildren, Tina Milner, Tanual Hickman, Michael C. Otey, Marvin C. Otey, Norman Otey, Sterling Johnson, Jr., Patryce M. Hampton, Khatonia Otey, Lloyd E. Hampton, Jr., Keith D. Johnson, Twana Otey, Tiffany M. Mitchell, Rita K. Board, James Board, Jr., Alvin S. Board, Melvina Board, Austin Board, Brian Board and Tonya Board; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; two devoted uncles, James W.
