LaVerne Saunders Pittman, age 80 of Roanoke County, went to be home with her heavenly Father Sunday, March 8, 1992. She was a retired beautician, and was the widow of Reuben C. Pittman. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Barry Mitchem, Roanoke County; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Mandy Pittman, Blue Ridge; a daughter-in-law, Mary Harris Pittman, Virginia Beach; a brother, William (Bill) R. Saunders, Roanoke; a sister, Christine Gosser, Blackwood, N.J.; four grandchildren, Rebecca Pittman Wescott, Sherry Pittman Taylor, Kimberly Mitchem, Michael Mitchem; two great-grandchildren, Phillip and Jared Wescott; and two dear and special friends, Ella Piner and Norman LaPrade. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's South Chapel Wednesday, March 11, 11:00 a.m., with Dick Chambers, Elwood McAllister and Steve Fulton officiating. Interment in Fairview Cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel.
