GALLERY PLANS DISPLAY OF COUPLE'S ARTWORK

Etchings and watercolors by a Salem couple will be on display in the Spotlight Gallery at the Arts Depot from Sunday through April 18.

The etchings are by Don Meador, a semi-retired draftsman and award-winning photographer, who was introduced to etching in 1987 at a print-making class at the Penland (N.C.) School of Crafts. He accepted an invitation in 1991 to be artist-in-residence at Roanoke College.

Chrys Meador, who has studied with several nationally known artists and in 1981 studied in France's Monet gardens, operated the Art Shoppe in Fincastle from 1970 to 1980. She has taught art for the YWCA and Salem's recreation department.

They will attend an opening reception March 8 from 3 to 5 p.m. to discuss their work and answer questions.
