MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO FONDLING DAUGHTER

A man from Franklin County pleaded guilty Monday to making sexual advances to his daughter last year when she was 17 years old.

The man, who is not being named to protect his daughter's identity, admitted fondling the girl in January 1991 after she got out of the shower.

The man faces up to 20 years in prison. Circuit Judge B.A. Davis III will sentence him after a background investigation is completed.

Authorities alleged that the man had been abusing his daughter since 1983, when she was 9.

Commonwealth's Attorney Cliff Hapgood dropped rape and sodomy charges against the man in exchange for his guilty plea to one count of aggravated sexual battery.

Hapgood said he was satisfied with the plea agreement because it spared the victim, who moved away from home after she turned 18 last year.
