FRANKLIN SUPERVISORS GET BUDGET

The Franklin County Board of Supervisors got their first look Monday at a proposed $37.4 million spending plan for 1992-93.

The proposed budget, recommended by County Administrator John Lester, reflects a 2.9 percent increase in general fund expenditures compared to the current year.

The spending plan includes no increase in property tax rates, but calls for a 4 percent tax on meals served in restaurants and an increase in landfill fees.

Lester recommended no extra local funds for public schools. The School Board plans to ask for a nearly $1.3 million increase in local funding for the coming school year.

After meeting individually with supervisors, Lester will formally present the budget March 17.
