James Edwin Mayhew, age 92, of Roanoke died Thursday, March 12, 1992 in a local hospital. He was a member of Green Memorial United Methodist Church, was a retired messenger for Railway Express Company, and a member of the Roanoke Transportation Museum. He was predeceased by his wife, Mrs. Leona Baird Mayhew. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Lois M. Hudgins of Lynchburg; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Thelma B. Metts of Roanoke; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's North Chapel 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 14 with the Rev. Walter M. Lockett officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Burial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Capital Improvement Fund, Green Memorial United Methodist Church. Friends may call Oakey's North Chapel where the family will receive friends 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday.
