Plant Manager Tim Rosche said the company sold $14 million last quarter - $3 million more than expected - and likely will continue that strong trend into the second quarter.
The new workers will be permanent, as far as he can tell, Rosche said. The automotive industry runs on yearly cycles, according to the automakers' new models.
In June, Federal Mogul will begin work on 1993 Buick models, and that work should last about a year, Rosche said.
Federal Mogul's work for General Motors remains uncertain because of GM's massive layoffs announced last year, he said.
"We're still just sitting back and waiting," Rosche said. GM is the company's biggest customer, buying about one-third of the plant's automotive bearings.
