CHILHOWIE UPENDED BY MARION IN BASEBALL

Brian Snavely hit a two-run home run to pace a four-run first inning and then pitched the final three innings to pick up the victory as Marion beat Chilhowie 4-3 in a non-district season-opening baseball game Monday.

Kenny Terry had a two-run single in the first inning for Marion.

Snavely (1-0) and Marion starter Barry Hungate, who left in the fourth-inning because of a blister on his throwing hand, combined for 15 strikeouts. Mark Sheets took the loss for Chilhowie (0-1). - Staff report
