OBIT - MALONE, T.
Thomas J. (Tom) Malone, Jr., age 71 of Salem, died Tuesday. He was a
veteran of World War II and was retired from the U. S. Postal Service. Mr.
Malone was past Commander of the V.F.W. Post in Roanoke. Surviving are his
wife, Juanita S. Malone; daughters and son-in-law, Martha M. and Douglas B.
Woody of Roanoke; M. Cheryl Malone of Richmond; sons and daughters-in-law,
Thomas J. III and Kathy Malone of Roanoke; T. Michael and Michelle Malone of
Salem; Patrick B. and Nancy Malone of Roanoke; eight grandchildren, two
great-grandchildren; one sister, Katherine M. Austin of Roanoke; an aunt,
Elizabeth M. Burnett of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one nephew, the Rev. (Chip)
Austin of Newport News. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday from
Fair View Cemetery. The Rev. Mark Radecke will officiate. The family will
receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at Oakey's
Roanoke Chapel and at other times at the Woody residence, 4854 Autumn Lane in
Roanoke. Memorials may be made to the City Rescue Mission or a favorite
charity. Arrangements by Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
