ROANOKE WOMEN HOLD OFF MARY WASHINGTON

Mary Washington scored two goals with just over a minute to play, but Roanoke held on for a 9-8 women's lacrosse victory Tuesday.

The Maroons (2-0) got possession with 20 seconds to go and ran out the clock. Roanoke's Cortney Dittmann had four goals. Jen Shimrak added two more and three assists. Mary Washington lost its season opener despite four goals from Lisa Peterson.
