CHILHOWIE WOMAN KILLED IN ACCIDENT

Mayme Lewis Bishop was making a left turn from Virginia 762 East onto Virginia 762 North near Chilhowie when she drove in front of the truck driven by Charles Howell, also of Chilhowie, a state police dispatcher said.

Bishop, who was wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.

A passenger in the truck was admitted to Smyth County Community Hospital and kept overnight for observation, a nursing supervisor said. Howell was not admitted to the hospital.
