HIGHLANDERS WIN 13-4 IN BASEBALL

Radford jumped to a five-run lead after three innings and went on to defeat Davidson 13-4 in a Big South Conference baseball game Sunday.

Radford's Denny Van Pelt hit a home run in the first with two on, and the Highlanders (11-9 overall, 3-3 conference) led 8-3 after three innings. Starter Jim Abbott (2-0) scattered four hits in seven innings.

After Radford's initial barrage, the Wildcats (15-7, 3-1) cut into the lead on Tim Kerns' 10th home run, and Drew Fassett had a solo homer. - Staff
