OBIT HUNTER, H.
HUNTER, HOWARD P. Howard Phelps Hunter, age 75, died Wednesday, March 25,
1992. Mr. Hunter was born at Eggleston, Virginia on March 2, 1917 and was a
son of the late Clarence S. and Flora Sonner Hunter. Besides his parents, he
was preceded in death by two sisters, Beverley H. Deck and Elaine Hunter and a
brother, Edward M. Hunter. Mr. Hunter was a member of the Pearisburg Baptist
Church and was a member of the Deacon Board, the Finance Committee and the
Adult 3 Sunday School Class. He retired from the Hoechst-Celanese Corp. with
42 years of service. He was a member of the Men's Interdenominational Pray
Breakfast group. He was a life member of the Giles Life Saving and Rescue
Squad. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor E. Hunter, Pearisburg; daughter and
son-in-law, Cheryl H. and Eddie Kingrea, Pearisburg; grandson and wife, Todd
and Felicia Kingrea, Radford, Va.; one brother, Shirley H. Hunter, Kingsport,
Ind.; one sister, Mary H. Pennestri, Boone, N.C. Funeral services will be
conducted Friday, March 27, 1992 at 2:00 p.m. in the Pearisburg Baptist Church
with Dr. Robert Putt and Warren Stewart officiating with burial in Birchlawn
Burial Park. Friends may call at the Givens Funeral Home, Pearisburg, Thursday
evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friends may send memorials to the Pearisburg
Baptist Church.
