LIBRARY GROUP ON WAY TO GOAL

The Lamplighters, Radford's Friends of the Library group, has raised $20,000 in its fund-raising efforts to add a new Children's Wing to the Radford Public Library at 30 First St.

The Lamplighters have been raising money since November, with a goal of receiving $100,000 in private contributions by summer.

Preliminary plans for the 5,000 square-foot addition have been completed, and the library has been approved to apply for federal matching funds through the Library Services and Construction Act.
