HIGHLANDERS 9TH AFTER 1ST-ROUND OF TOURNEY

Radford finished the first round of the Marine Intercollegiate Golf Tournament in ninth place Friday.

The Highlanders carded 296, 12 strokes off the pace, on the Paradise Point golf course.

Slippery Rock took the early with a 284. Indiana, Pa. is second at 285 and Virginia Commonwealth tied for third with Ohio University at 287.

Indiana's Steve Wojnar had the low round of the day with a 5-under-par 65. Phil Fairbanks was the low man for the Highlanders at 72. - Staff report
