The money will support Job Training Partnership Act programs. This is a 28 percent increase from last year's funding for the programs, which include a summer youth program and a job-skills training program for adults and youths.
Money for the Summer Youth Employment Training Program will provide an opportunity for youths ages 14 and up to earn while they learn. Participants will be paid $4.25 per hour for all program activities, which include education and work experience.
Just over $60,000 will go toward that summer program.
A grant of $135,000 will support a training certification program already in place at the college, along with a geriatric nursing assistant program.
