E&H MAKES DIVISION III TOURNAMENT
A semifinal loss in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference did not keep Emory & Henry out of the NCAA Division III tournament's 40-team field.The Wasps (22-4), the ODAC's regular-season champions, earned one of 22 at-large bids announced Sunday night. It is the school's fourth straight trip to the national tournament.
Emory & Henry, the third seed in the South Region, will play at second-seeded Maryville (Tenn.) in a second-round game on Saturday. The Lynx are 20-5.
Christopher Newport is the top seed in the South and will face the winner of the first-round game between No. 4 Rhodes (Tenn.) and No. 5 Virginia Wesleyan.
In the women's bracket, Roanoke College (21-5) will play at Maryville (Tenn.) in the first round Friday at 7:30 p.m.
The game is a rematch of last year's South Regional when Roanoke defeated the Scots 73-71 on a shot at the buzzer. - Staff report
