GALAX CHURCH TO HOLD FORUM ON COMPOSTING

The Bedminster Corp. of Cherry Hill, N.J., will offer a public forum on the use of compost equipment as a method of waste disposal Friday at 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church.

An 18-minute video will illustrate the basic formula for composting, using household garbage and sludge from sewage-treatment plants to produce a sanitary and odorless compost for farm and garden use.

To be cost effective, such a system would have to include a population area about the same as that of Carroll and Grayson counties, the city of Galax and the towns of Independence and Fries. - Southwest bureau
