BOY HELD IN SLAYING OF GRANDMOTHER
Spotsylvania County authorities have arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with the death of his grandmother, who was attacked with a butcher knife and a club in their home.
Thelma Curtis Chewning, 62, was found lying in her front yard early Monday, said Lt. David Cooper of the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Department. She had been stabbed and bludgeoned repeatedly, he said.
Michael Dwayne Chewning, 15 was arrested Monday evening, a Sheriff's Department dispatcher said.
Thelma Chewning shared the home with her mother and son and the youth, police said.
