OBIT BROWN, S. MAYNARD

BROWN, S. Maynard, 82, of the Fort Mountain Community in Franklin County, died Sunday, February 28, 1993, in a Rocky Mount hospital. Born July 30, 1910, in Franklin County, he was a son of the late James William and Pearly Draper Brown. He was retired from furniture manufacturing, and was a long-time member of the Fort Mountain United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Violet Y. Brown, of the home; six daughters, Mrs. Burnice (Alice) Hale of Bassett, Mrs. Frank (Betty) Bolling of Tennessee, Mrs. Denver (Louise) Hall of Rocky Mount, Mrs. G. W. (Avis) Huston of Redwood, Mrs. Kendall (Gail) Peters of Roanoke, Mrs. Bobby (Marilyn) Mattox of Bassett; five sons, David M. Brown, Gordon T. Brown, Allen Brown, all of Henry, Brady L. Brown of Bassett, Wesley J. Brown of Rocky Mount; five sisters, Maggie B. Horsley, Ollie B. Doyle, Sula B. Hylton, all of Bassett, Etta B. McGhee of Patrick Springs, Norene B. Hylton of Rocky Mount; one brother, Charlie Stafford Brown, Rocky Mount; twenty-seven grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 1993, from the McKee Funeral Service Chapel, Martinsville. Interment will be in the family cemetery in Franklin County. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the McKee Chapel and other times at the home, State Road 608, Fort Mountain.
