OBIT WILLIS, SILAS EDWARD
WILLIS, Silas Edward, 70, of Route 2, Ferrum, died Sunday morning, February
28, 1993, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a battle with lung cancer. He was
born August 24, 1922, a son of the late Thomas Edward and Ruth Ellen Bryant
Willis. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the European
Theater. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Johnson Willis, four
sisters, Ida Willis Beamon, Amy Willis Turner, Lottie Willis Handy and
Jospehine Willis Hundley, and a brother, Roy Willis. Surviving are a daughter,
Linda G. Willis, Montvale; a sister, Eula Willis Dix, Danville; and two
brothers, Grady Willis of Danville, Herman Willis of Ferrum. Also surviving
are twenty nephews and nine nieces. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m.
Wednesday, March 3, from Lynch Funeral Home Chapel by Elder Lane Carter.
Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Visitation may begin after 4
p.m. Tuesday at Lynch Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from
7 to 9 p.m.
