OBIT GRAVES, JOHNNY THOMAS

GRAVES, Johnny Thomas, 79, of Blacksburg, died Monday, March 1, 1993, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Mr. Graves was born in Montgomery County on May 5, 1913, to the late George Thomas and Eva Smith Graves. He was a retired coal miner, and was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Price Graves. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Bobby Baker, Mary Jane and Levi Surface, all of Blacksburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Johnie Kelley and Ruth F. Graves, Blacksburg; two sisters, Catherine Caldwell of Christiansburg, Vivian Davis of Blacksburg; two brothers, Joe E. Graves of McCoy, Carl Graves of Longshop; nineteen grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jimmie Lee Price and Mr. Jack VanCuren will officiating. Interment will follow in the Harless Cemetery at Longshop. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 until 9 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
