BICYCLE CLUB PLANS 10 RIDES IN MARCH
The New River Valley Bicycle Club has 10 rides and a club meeting scheduled for March.The meeting will be March 30 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Blacksburg Branch Library. The ride schedule is listed below. All rides begin at 9 a.m. and meet at the Virginia Tech War Memorial Chapel unless noted otherwise.
\ March 6: Merrimac Loop. Easy terrain, 15 miles. Ride leader: Richard Burton (552-5563).
\ March 7: Training ride. Training rides last 2-2 1/2 hours, covering 30-35 miles at a pace between 16-18 mph.
\ March 13: Bradshaw and Catawba. Challenging terrain, 60 miles. Ride leader: Tim Myers (951-5285).
\ March 14: Training ride.
\ March 14: Social Ride. Meets at 2 p.m. at Tech Chapel. Tour Tom's Creek, easy pace, 20 miles, coffee at Gillie's afterward. Ride leader: Bob Coffey (921-2960).
\ March 20: Southern Montgomery County. Meets at Bethel Elementary School. Rolling terrain, 30 miles, 13 mph pace. Ride leader: Steve Hall (953-1206).
\ March 21: Training ride.
\ March 27: Narrows to Rocky Gap and return. Meets at 2 p.m. at Wolf Creek Park in Narrows. Flat terrain, 40 miles, moderately paced, dinner at Anna's Restaurant in Narrows afterward. Ride leader: Dow Scott (552-4607).
\ March 28: Training ride.
\ March 28: Spruce Run Mountain loop. Meets at 2 p.m. at Newport Community Center in Newport. Long but gentle grades, easy pace. Ride leader: Bob Coffey (921-2960).
