OBIT JOHNSTON, THERESA HENSON RICHARDSON

JOHNSTON, Theresa Henson Richardson, 87, of Roanoke, died Thursday, March 4, 1993 in a local hospital. She was the widow of Harvey R. Johnston. She was a life and charter member of Raleigh Court United Methodist Church, a member and past president of the Women's Auxiliary of the B.P.O. Elks #197, member and past president of the Pilot Club International, member of the Thursday Morning Music Club and the Women's Auxiliary of the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra. Mrs. Johnston worked for Military Intelligence during World War II in Washington D.C. and received a citation for service. She was later employed as administrator of the Capital Institute of Technology in Washington, D.C., and later retired from this job. Surviving are two sons, John W. Richardson and Nathan L. ("Pete") Richardson, Roanoke; daughter, Marcia Bergquist, Vienna, Va.; two daughters-in-law, Patricia H. Richardson, and Gayle M. Richardson; son-in-law, Lt. General Robert L. Bergquist, U. S. Army Ret.; sister-in-law, Miriam Henson, Roanoke; brother-in-law, Orville Miller, Florida; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; first cousins, Pricie Perlstein, Washington, D.C., John Norman, Roanoke; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Raleigh Court United Methodist Church, 1 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Gregory L. Adkins officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. Friends may call at Oakey's South Chapel after 1 p.m. Friday.
