OBIT DELLIS, NICHOLAS SAMUEL ("NICK")

DELLIS, Nicholas Samuel ("Nick"), 68, of Huddleston, passed away Thursday, March 4, 1993 in the Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley. He was born June 18, 1924 in Bedford County, the son of the late Irvin N. Dellis and Eula Johnson Dellis. He was a retired merchant, a member of the Palestine Baptist Church, a devoted member of Huddleston Rescue Squad and was recently named an honorary member of the organization. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Cundiff Dellis; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Glenn Stevens, Elk Hart, Ind.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Patsy Dellis, Rocky Mount; Donald and Monica Dellis, Vinton; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 6, 1993 at 2 p.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Huddleston, by the Rev. Christopher Fowler. Interment will follow in the Palestine Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. The famiy requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Huddleston Lifesaving Crew or the Palestine Baptist Church Building Fund. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home, Huddleston.
