THE GRANDIN BRINGS THE WORLD TO ROANOKE
AS AN artist, world traveler and a native of France, I have lived in most capitals in Europe and speak fluently three languages. I have been in and out of Roanoke for the past 15 years.I would like the people of Roanoke to really know how lucky they are to have the Grandin Theater. For me and a lot of acquaintances, it has been wonderful to be able to see movies in French like "My Father's Glory," "My Mother's Castle," "Manon of the Spring," "Jean de Florette" and "The Hairdresser's Wife." It has been a joy to see Italian movies like "Meditteraneo," "Dark Eyes" and "Cinema Paradiso." I don't speak Danish, Yugoslav or Chinese, but what a delight was "Babette's Feast," "The Time of the Gypsy" and the "Red Lantern."
Thanks to the Grandin we can keep up with the rest of the world's cultures. The choice of the movies has been magnificent. In English, the Grandin gives us the best films, such as "Enchanted April," "Howard's End," "Princess Bride" and "Sherley Valentine." I have laughed and cried my heart out in front of the screen. I wish more people would attend and support the Grandin. Let's speak up and help the Grandin survive. PIERRETTE WILLIAMS ROANOKE
