BARBER SETS STATE MARK IN HURDLES
Ronde Barber of Cave Spring set a record in the 55-meter hurdles Saturday at the state Group AAA indoor track meet in Fairfax.Barber was clocked in 7.24 seconds, tying Doug Haynesworth of Potomac for first in the event.
Carlos Samuels won the 500-meter dash, placed second in the 300 meters and ran the winning anchor leg of the 1,600-meter relay as T.C. Williams won the team title.
In the girls' division, Tiffany Smallwood placed second in the 500 meters and ran the anchor leg of the 800-meter relay to lead Bethel to the championship.
The Patrick Henry girls' team finished eighth.
