LECTURE SERIES AT COLLEGE

Lecture series at college

Roanoke College's Henry H. Fowler Public Affairs Lecture Series presents "The Role of Women in Public Life" on March 18 at its Salem campus.

The day begins at 11:15 a.m. with a convocation, "Black Faces, Black Interests." Carol Swain, assistant professor of politics and public affairs at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School, will deliver the talk.

At 4 p.m. Christine Stansell, associate professor of women's studies and American history at Princeton University, will speak on "Public Woman and Sexual Ambiguity: A Historian's Perspective." Also at 4 p.m., "Women and the Labor Market: Trends, Problems and Policy Solutions" will be delivered by Cecilia Rouse, assistant professor of economics and public affairs and research associate at Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School.

A panel discussion and question and answer session will be held at 7 p.m., with the three speakers discussing "The Role of Women in Public Life." A reception will follow at 8:30 p.m.

Because of the recent fire at the Salem Holiday Inn, the Roanoke Camera Club's photography seminar scheduled for March 26-27 has been moved to the Holiday Inn Airport in Roanoke.

John Shaw will lead the seminar, which will include photography tips, field techniques, slide presentations and marketing advice. The cost is $75, or $40 for March 26 only.
