BUENA VISTA OFFICIAL TO TAKE VINTON JOB
B. Clayton Goodman III, city manager of Buena Vista, has been named town manager of Vinton, starting April 8.
Goodman was one of 104 people seeking the position vacated by Brad Corcoran on Jan. 1. Vinton Town Council members interviewed 11 candidates. Several of them, including Goodman, were interviewed twice, said Mayor Charles Hill.
Goodman's salary will be $55,620 per year. He has a master's degree in public administration from West Virginia University and a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Virginia Tech.
Goodman, 38, has been Buena Vista's city manager since August 1988. He has also served as city manager of Austell, Ga.; assistant county administrator of Montgomery County; and assistant city manager of Fairmont, W.Va.
He is married and has two children.
