In Lexington, Lisa Dowling scored six goals and added three assists Wednesday as Washington and Lee routed Bridgewater 18-3 in women's lacrosse.The Generals (2-0) scored the first eight goals and put the game out of reach with three goals in a 31-second span. Nicole Ripken had four goals in the first half for Washington and Lee. Dowling's nine points set a school record for most points in a game.
Third-ranked Virginia opened it's women's lacrosse season Wednesday with a 16-5 victory over 13th-ranked Yale in Charlottesville. Anna Yates scored five goals for the Cavaliers while Cherie Greer and Kelly Daddona added three goals each. In goal for Virginia, Kim Pendergast recorded seven saves. Virginia outshot Yale (0-1) 46-14.
Chris Lloyd scored five goals and Mike Lamdin added four as Maryland-Baltimore County cranked visiting Radford 22-4 on Wednesday in men's lacrosse. The Retrievers (2-0) led 14-2 at the half and outshot the Highlanders 51-16. Radford (0-2) was led by Steve Govett with three goals.
