OFFICIALS TO HEAR ROAD REQUESTS IN ABINGDON
State transportation officials will hear road requests from citizens and elected representatives of Southwest Virginia counties, cities and towns April 2 at Virginia Highlands Community College.The hearing on allocating highway construction funds for interstate, primary and urban roads in the Bristol district will start at 10 a.m. with remarks by Secretary of Transportation John G. Milliken.
Speakers from the counties of Lee, Scott and Wise, the city of Norton and towns of Big Stone Gap and Wise will be heard from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m.
Buchanan, Dickenson, Russell and Tazewell counties and the towns of Bluefield, Lebanon, Richlands and Tazewell will have their turn from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
The last speakers will be from the counties of Bland, Grayson, Smyth, Washington and Wythe, the city of Bristol, and towns of Abingdon, Marion and Wytheville from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. - Southwest bureau
