A school designed by Motley + Associates of Roanoke has won an award for masonry design from the Virginia Masonry Council. It is the second award Motley had received for its design of Toano Middle School in the Williamsburg-James City County school system. The other citation came last November in the Virginia School Boards Association's exhibition of school architecture.
Summit Vendors Roanoke Inc., a food and vending service company, has opened at 2151 Apperson Drive, Salem. Russell King is president and one of the founders of the company, which started March 1. King said he and his three partners decided to start the company on the notion that a small, locally owned company could provide better service than large national firms.
