SOUTH CAROLINA ROUTS HOKIES 13-2 IN BASEBALL
Jeff Parnell and Joe Biernat drove in three runs each as South Carolina defeated Virginia Tech 13-2 in a baseball game called in the top of the eighth because of rain. J.R. Hawkins doubled and scored on Josh Herman's single for Tech in the fifth inning. Popeye Smith drove in the other run for the Hokies (6-2). Seven Tech pitchers gave up 10 runs.\ The Knights of Columbus basketball tournament that was scheduled to start Friday in Roanoke was postponed because of bad weather. The tournament will be rescheduled, starting on March 20.
