OBIT-WHITENACK, ALDA BOWERS
WHITENACK, Alda Bowers, 79, of Roanoke, and formerly of Bluefield, W.Va.,
died Thursday, March 11, 1993, at Our Lady of the Valley Nursing Home in
Roanoke. Born in Galax, she was a daughter of the late Harold Bowers and Maude
Jackson Bowers. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Episcopal
Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hans Leon "Jack" Whitenack.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Whitenack Nicholson of Roanoke, Phyllis
Whitenack Keiter of Orlando, Fla.; four grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday from
the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William J. Morgan officiating.
Burial will follow in the Monte Vista Park Cemetery at Green Valley. There
will be no visitation at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial
contributions be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice, 4235 Colonial Ave. S.W.,
Roanoke, Va. 24015. Mercer Funeral Home in Bluefield, W.Va., is in charge of
arrangements.
